William George
Burgun
Dec 25, 1932 — Mar 6, 2022
Seminole
William G. Burgun, 89, died March 6, 2022. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to this area in 1957. William was a retired machinist and a Catholic.
He was born on Christmas Day in 1932 to Mildred and Wallace Burgun in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Harrison High School in Harrison, Ohio. He married Joan Poehner in 1955 and moved to Florida in 1957. They purchased a brand-new home in Seminole, right next to a large orange grove. Back then, Seminole still grew a lot of oranges! They were married for 53 years, until Joan passed away in 2008. Bill and Joan joined Blessed Sacrament Church when it first opened in 1959!
They had four children – Terry, Mike, Dennis and Julie. All the children attended Blessed Sacrament School from K-8! Even though it was expensive, Bill and Joan made Catholic education a priority. Bill worked as a machinist and retired from Amp Inc.. After retirement he had more time to focus on his favorite hobby – antique cars! He was a member of Antique Automobile Club of America. He restored many cars, attended many shows across the U.S., and won numerous awards. He also enjoyed spending time in Inverness at his property near the lake, fishing and spending time with his family. He enjoyed spending time with family and reminiscing about his younger days. Although Bill grew up during the depression and things were very tough, he had only fond memories of his childhood.
He is survived by his children Terry Holmes (and Steve), Mike Burgun (and Cindy), Dennis Burgun, Julie Burgun. Four grandchildren- Brian Holmes, Chrissy Cordone, Justin Burgun and Jason Burgun. 3 great grandchildren: Colin Cordone, Tyler Cordone and Charlotte Burgun.
He will be dearly missed.
