Vanda Roberta Borgersen, 89 years old, passed away peacefully in her sleep while holding the hand of her Husband Lt. Col. Carl Borgersen Ret. on December 22, 2017. She was born in New York City April 21, 1928, the fourth of five the daughters of Italian immigrants Nicole and Vincenza Tedone. She grew up in the Bronx, New York City. After graduating high school, Vanda worked as a secretary for the Military Base Exchange Store's Administrative Headquarters in New York City where she met and married her husband Carl in March 1947.

Carl, born in New York City, is the son of Norwegian Immigrants. Carl became an aviator in WWII.  Vanda supported Carl through his nomadic 25 year post war career as a US Air Force officer.  During that time they had 2 sons William in 1950 and Randall in 1952. Vanda made a home for their family at US Military Bases across the country and overseas in locations such as Florida, New Mexico, California, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Alaska, Illinois, Oklahoma, New York, Livorno Italy and Georgia.  She uprooted and resettled her family household regularly at intervals of 1 to 3 years until she and her husband retired to Panama City Beach, Florida in 1972. There in the soft white sands of Panama City Beach, they built their dream home and Vanda was finally able to put down long roots for the next 35 years.

In 2007 Vanda and her husband Carl moved to the Brookdale Pinecrest Independent Living Community in Largo, Florida to be close to their son William, his wife Barbara and their grandson Daniel.

Vanda was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Jean, Adele, and Maria and her son William. She is survived by her loving husband Carl, sister Pauline Tandy of Warwich, R.I., son Randall of Alcantera Philippines, daughter in law Barbara Borgersen of Largo,  grandson Daniel (of William and Barbara), daughter in law Merlinda Borgersen of Tallahassee and  granddaughter Amber (of Randall and Merlinda) and many other loving family and friends.
