Obituary

Susan D. Kalter left this world on Saturday February, 17 th 2018, but will never be forgotten. Known to most as Sue, she was born to James and Elizabeth Elliott on August 13 th , 1962 in Tampa, Fl.  Sue would go on to become the older sister of James Elliott, dedicated wife of Brian Kalter, and the unforgettable mother of Stephen Kalter.

Sue spent time traveling around Europe getting to know different foods, culture, and people while attending school. She graduated with a degree in psychology from Richmond University in London, England.   Later moving back to the states, she decided on her lifelong home back in Seminole, Florida.

Sue prided herself of being a casual person who found the most joy in the simplest thing of life. Her favorite passion in life was food.  She would spend countless hour cooking with her husband, not because she had to, but because she loved it.  Whether she was cooking up some comfort food, smoking up some beer can chicken, or working with her husband on creating the perfect chili, you would never walk into her home without smelling amazing aromas or leaving with a full stomach.

Every Sunday was quite the day. She would start the day off, calling her parents or son to tell them what she would be cooking and doing for the day.  The cooking would start and would go on for hours.  During seasons, every TV including one in her kitchen would be blaring the Sunday football game.  Friends would always be found coming over to watch the games and indulge in the food and wine of the day.

One could easily call Sue a green thumb chef. Sue loved to be surrounded by outdoors at nature. She always wanted to be around greenery and life.  If she was not changing plants around her Florida room or backyard, you would often find her taking in the beauty of a park, toes in the sand at the beach, or botanical gardens with her friends and family.  Anything she touched grew and thrived, and her plants were like to children to her.

While the list could go on for a long time to describe the life of Sue, she would like to be remember most as a selfless person who make the most out of everyday no matter what was thrown her way. As per her request, there will not be a formal viewing or ceremony, but a private celebration of life (she called it a killer party).  Any donations wished to be given can be made in her memory to the family.
