Stephen J.
Hein
Nov 25, 1952 — Jul 6, 2025
Seminole
Stephen (Steve) J. Hein went to be with his Savior and his beloved wife, Pat, on July 6. He is survived by his sister, his nieces and nephews, his in-laws, and many dear friends.
Steve was born on November 25, 1952, in New Britain, Connecticut. He graduated from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Early in his career, he worked with electron microscopes at a Boston hospital before embarking on a long and successful tenure at Raytheon.
On April 16, 1994, Steve married Patricia A. Whalen. The couple made their home in Newton, Massachusetts, and later moved to Seminole, Florida, after Steve's retirement.
Steve was a loving and devoted husband. Though a reluctant traveler, he joyfully accompanied Pat on journeys from Brazil to Bora Bora and beyond.
He was skilled with his hands and had a deep appreciation for tools, especially those inherited from his father. He cheerfully and capably assembled even the most complicated DIY projects with patience and care.
Steve had a lifelong love of music. He sang in several choirs, enjoyed choral music, and played the harpsichord. He especially appreciated the organ and organist at Calvary Episcopal.
Steve was a kind and gentle soul, known for his quiet faith and generous spirit. There wasn't a mean bone in his body.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on July 24 at Calvary Episcopal Church in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
