Awesome friend, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and great uncle to so many wonderful nieces and nephews, Roy was a very kind, gentle and caring man who is loved and will be sorely missed by anyone who had the great fortune to have participated in his life's journey. He loved and lived his music and enjoyed every minute with brother-in-law Mike, Ira and so many amazing musician friends. And he cherished the bonds that were established with co-workers Todd, Pat, John, principal Valerie, Angela and all the terrific teachers and kids during his many happy years working at St. Cecelia Interparochial Catholic School. Roy, like his Dad Big Joe, loved to learn. He was always reading, researching and watching educational and informative shows. He was an exemplary teacher who thoroughly enjoyed patiently passing along not only his vast knowledge of music but everything that he had learned as he ventured into new discoveries. He was not without a quick witted sense of humor though. He got a big kick out of asking everyone what is 7 divided by 0. He would wait with a big smile on his face to see if they would get it right.
Roy was a devout Roman Catholic who led by example and encouraged others to do everything they could to secure their reward in heaven. He would be disappointed if he fell asleep while saying the rosary and would try and finish it the next day. He always stopped in for a visit to the chapel on his nightly rounds at St. Cecelia's. He said he promised to say a prayer for every lit candle that was there each time he stopped. He was elated one night to see that there were so many but he was in the chapel for a very long time! Big Joe made us promise never to stop praying for him and so we always pray for our departed loved ones but it is difficult to imagine that Roy didn't just hop on the express to his eternal resting place.
So many happy memories of Roy are as numerous as the stars and they will live in our hearts forever!
