Obituary

Rosalea Ann Megna, 79, of Clearwater, FL departed the earthly world on April 15 th after kicking cancer's butt for 10+ years.  She was married to Vincent A. Megna for more years than they care to disclose.  She was the compass he lived by and although he feels lost without her, he will carry on in her absence or else he knows he is certain hear about it later! They had a blended family that included Nicholas Megna, Henry King (Jodi), Scott King (Kimberly), Kenneth King (Karen), Roxanne Bazzini (Fred) and Vincent Megna III (Jennifer).  We are scattered along the east coast from New Paltz, NY to Sanibel, FL.

She unfortunately laid to rest too many of her nine siblings: Suzanne Ricottilli, Mary Leek, Patricia Green, Daniel Keenan, Colin Keenan, Sharon Rose Wallace, and also like a sister to her, Gail Keenan.  She is survived by Patrick, Hugh and Michael Keenan.  The Keenan clan, headed by Susan and Patrick Keenan, were well known to the Beacon, NY community.  Just mention the name and you are sure to hear many stories.

Mom was truly the heart of the family and was always hosting holidays, birthdays, and everything in between.  With such a big family, it was not an easy undertaking to be sure.   She gave without reserve and that sometimes included her advice, which wasn't always necessarily appreciated, but there's no doubt she had your best interests at heart.  If you asked her where she wanted to go on vacation, it was anywhere there was family (including Alnwick, England).

She was Catholic by choice and although she did not agree with them on all things, she did believe devoutly in God.  She was a big fan of Elvis and I know at least one grandchild knows all the words to Blue Suede Shoes.

She had an 'anything you can do, I can do better' attitude and never shied from a challenge.  She broke a rib trying a manual scooter for the first time at about 60 yrs old.  She loved to toss a baseball and would have attended every and any sports game her kids/grandkids played if she could.  Her smile was never bigger than when she was with her grandkids (and greats).  She had 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren when she departed with three more on the way that she dearly hoped to meet.

Mom was immensely proud of her family, immediate and extended by blood or otherwise.

She left for all of us this wish:

When you're lonely, I wish you love

When you're sad, I wish you joy

When you're discouraged, I wish you hope

When your spirit is low, I wish you beauty

When you're troubled, I wish you peace

I wish these things for each and every one of you.

Her Mother would leave her dimes to let her know she was watching over her.  We will be looking for your special sign Mom because we know you still have our backs.

Mom asked that we not have a traditional funeral and instead permitted us to have a simple memorial service which will be held on June 18 th at 11 am at Saint Joachim, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon, New York.

Her favorite charity was St. Jude's Children's Hospital.  She would be greatly honored to have any donations sent in her memory.  If you wish to send your condolences to Vincent (Dad, Poppy, Grampa, Uncle Vinny), you are welcomed to send them c/o R Bazzini 7565 Spencer Rd, Gloucester Point, VA 23062.
