Roger Lee Sheets
September 27, 1951 – February 24, 2025
Roger Lee Sheets, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and
dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by
loved ones at the age of 73.
Born in Grayson County, Virginia, Roger was the son of Jincy Sheets and
one of six children. His family moved to Bel Air, Maryland, where he spent
his early years before beginning a lifetime of service to his community.
Roger proudly served the Baltimore County Police Department for 30 years,
retiring as a Captain. During his career, he worked in various precincts, led
crime prevention efforts, and helped establish the Fallen Heroes Memorial
Service. He was instrumental in school safety initiatives, leading the School Resource Officer
Program and contributing to national training efforts.
In addition to law enforcement, Roger was a lifelong volunteer firefighter, serving 25 years with the
Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company. After retirement, he continued his work in security as Corporate
Director of Security for Life-Bridge Health and later at Towson University, helping improve
healthcare and campus safety nationwide.
Roger's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen "Kitty" Sheets, and
his children: Sarah Callahan, Stacey, PJ Tevis, Roger, Jamie Sheets, Daniel, Brittany Sheets, and
Samuel Sheets. He adored his ten grandchildren—Dalton, Alivia, Tyson, Layla, Chloe, Ella, Henry,
Oliver, Cora, and Collin—and loved coaching and supporting them in sports.
A devoted Ravens and Orioles fan, Roger found happiness in family gatherings, coaching, and
cheering for his teams. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, FOP Lodge #4,
and several law enforcement and security organizations.
A viewing will be held on February 28th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lewis W. Mohn Funeral
Home, in Seminole Florida. A funeral service will take place on March 1st at 10:00 AM at Blessed
Sacrament Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Donald A. Adam Melanoma and Skin Cancer
Center of Excellence at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Roger's legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
