Obituary

Richard Neil Caswell, age 73, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on March 31, 2026. He was born on July 25, 1952, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and later made his home in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Richard worked as a car salesman for many years before retiring and moving to Florida to be closer to his children and grandchildren. In his retirement, he spent his days just the way he loved—on the beach eating a peach.
Richard was a talented athlete who played football at Western Kentucky University, where he was honored in the Hall of Fame more than once. He was drafted by the New York Giants in 1976. His love for the game never faded, and he remained a dedicated fan of the WKU Hilltoppers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren more than anything and cherished every moment with his family.
Richard will be remembered as kind, stubborn as a mule, set in his ways, caring, and truly one of a kind. He had a sharp sense of humor and was known for his one-liners that kept everyone around him laughing.
He is survived by his children, Lee Caswell and wife Korey Caswell and grandchildren Avery and Dylan Caswell; Nick Caswell and grandchildren Carson and Collin Caswell; Christy Humphreys and her husband Scott Humphreys and grandchildren Landon, Karter, and Dawson Humphreys; and Caitlin Caswell and her partner Jacob Swager and grandchildren Lucas, Leonardo, Lachlan, and Laura Shaye Swager. He is also survived by his brothers, Jerry and Jimmy Caswell, and his sisters, Carolyn Decker Macpherson, Beverly Strickland, and Judy Crain, along with his lifelong close friends and anyone who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2026 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, with the date to be determined.
