Obituary

Richard Chase Brock, known as "Dick" to his colleagues and friends, passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born on Oct. 22, 1946, in Centerville, Iowa, Richard's life took him through Iowa, Indiana, and Florida. A lover of baseball, greyhound racing, tennis, bike riding, music, and the thrill of a good Stephen King novel. But more than anything, Richard cherished his family. The noise, laughter, and beautiful chaos of a family gathering were his greatest source of happiness.

Richard's strength and determination were evident in his remarkable 22 year battle with stage 4 prostate cancer - a fight he faced with courage, humor, and grace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Muriel Brock (Fannon) and John Brock; and brother, Charles Brock.

Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry Brock; Sister Jane Wininger (Brock), his children, Constance Brock, John Brock,(Christy), Lucy Baldridge, Jason Fike(Nicole), and Katie Gorman (Kyle); and his beloved grandchildren: Madisyn Olivarez, Ajah Moncrief, Mason Olivarez, Triston Fike, Braden Fike, and Sierra Fike.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and wittiness that will continue to echo through the lives of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
