Long, Raymond P., age 81, of Largo, Florida, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the comfort of his loving family.
Ray was born in Bayonne, N.J. He served four years in the U.S. Army. After graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1973, he was a systems analyst for most of his career. Thirty-five years ago he moved his family to the Tampa Bay area and he later retired from Florida Power (Duke Energy) in the mid-nineties. He was a catholic and life-long member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Susan, his only brother William T. (Marilyn) of Cumming, Georgia, four children Thomas Sr. (Lynn), Linda Barker (Wayne), Alan (Julie), Kevin (Amanda), four grandchildren Thomas Jr., Hannah, Eva, and Alia, along with many nieces that he loved dearly.
Ray spent many years as an umpire at Little League baseball games.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Ray's love of baseball, please make donations to your local Little League. Funeral services will be held at Mohn Funeral Home at 9700 Seminole Blvd, Seminole, Florida 33772 on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. There will be a visitation from 1-3pm and a brief service beginning at 3pm.
