. In keeping with his mantra of "never, never giving up", Pete fought fiercely against that which was threatening to take him away from his family, friends and life mission. He fought for years, reaching unprecedented milestones, amazing his healthcare specialists and inspiring everyone around him. He never gave up hope for a better day and did what he could to make it happen, for himself and for others.
Pete won this battle. Cancer did not beat him. He valiantly completed his life's mission and God peacefully called him home.
The only thing that Pete loved more than his friends, or helping others succeed (or a perfect steak), was his family. In lieu of a memorial service, we ask that you honor Pete by spending that precious time with your family and friends. We would also ask that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation to your preferred local charity or conduct an extra Doctors With A Heart day.
A little about Pete, in case you didn't know…
Pete was born in New York, NY in 1940 as the middle child to Xavier Fernandez and Marguerite Cotelle, who migrated from Spain and France, respectively. While growing up in Fort. Lauderdale, Pete contracted the Poliovirus. He was gravely ill, overnight becoming unable to walk. The inspiration for his life long career is that a chiropractor CURED his Polio!
Pete went on to be a very talented athlete, playing varsity football and basketball for Pinecrest High School.
Dr. Fernandez graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 1961. Prior to starting his Florida practice, Dr. Fernandez practiced at the Boutwell Chiropractic Clinic of Augusta, GA.
Since 1979, "Dr. Pete", as he was known to his friends and colleagues, helped over 5,000 chiropractic doctors build rewarding practices. He built a reputation for happy, prosperous clients by delivering dependable, personal, one-on-one advice and assistance to doctors committed to becoming more successful. His life commitment was, "Let no D.C. fail."
Author of 17 books and over 200 professional articles, Dr. Pete was also past president of the Florida Chiropractic Association, past chairman of the prestigious Chiropractic Knights of the Round Table, and "Chiropractor of the Year" award recipient from the Parker School of Professional Success, and the Central Florida Academy of Chiropractic Studies.
Never one to sit idle, Pete at least always had papers he was editing on his lap. Over the past year it had also been the fictional book he always wanted to write, "Ella, the White Witch". Stay tuned for that publishing!
God bless you, and thank you for all of your kind words and loving prayers,
Cathy and family
