Obituary

Norman E. Winslow, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2020.  He was born in Lewiston, Maine and educated at University of Maine in the field of Electrical Engineering. He served in the Navy during the Korean War, in which he played saxophone as a member of the Navy band.

In 1951, Norm married the love of his life, Jacqueline (Butler) Winslow. She preceded him in death in 2018, after 67 years of marriage. They had two children, a daughter, Laura (John) McCarthy, and a son, Bradley (Roxanne) Winslow. Norm was grandfather to several grandchildren, and a great-grandfather to three. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed sharing their stories of accomplishments.

Norm was an Electrical Engineer at ITT, Sander's Associates, and Mitre. He was a brilliant, honest, hard-working man, who took pride in doing things right. He had a great sense of humor right up until the end of his life.

Norman's passion was his music. He loved writing and arranging music and was a prolific writer. His band, "Profiles in Jazz", played in various venues around the St. Petersburg, Seminole, FL area. Norm participated in the Clearwater City Players for many years, donating much of his time to building and painting sets, as well as performing on stage. Other interests he enjoyed were sailing, golfing and bowling.

He was a Master Mason for fifty-five years with Simonds Lodge in Boston, Massachusetts, and Grounds Manager for Lake Seminole Presbyterian Church.

The family wishes to thank Dad's long time friends, Paul and Clara Roy, for their many decades of friendship with Dad. We wish to give a special thank you to Jan Michael for her devoted companionship, love, and care of "Papa". We also thank the staff at the Inn at Freedom Square Nursing and Rehab Center, for their years of care for Dad.  A special thanks to Suncoast Hospice, Lavender Group, for their wonderful guidance, care, and support throughout our father's final months. We are so grateful for the loving care all of you gave to our Dad. He shall be deeply missed, but always in our hearts and memories.

Norm and Jackie's remains will be interned at Bay Pines National Cemetery, Monday, Nov. 23, 2020 at 9:30 A.M.
