Nancy L.
Whitham
Apr 15, 1931 — Dec 22, 2021
Seminole
Nancy L. Whitham died peacefully Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Suncoast Hospice in Pinellas Park FL.
Her sun has set but she will always be in our hearts.
She is survived by her children who love her: Joan & Robert Davis, Judy & Steven Hart, Tammy and Charles R.
Whitham Jr. (Chuck). She was dearly loved by her grandchildren: Michelle Gaudet, Jessica Davis, Brian Davis,
Jonathan Quish, Paul Stevens, Marc Stevens, Sean Whitham and William Whitham. Dear sister of Mary E. Dallas,
Barbara Zmuda, Beverly Blinn and William Erickson.
Nancy was born in Hankou, China on April 15, 1931 to Margaret Esther and Ralph Fielding while he was serving in
the U.S Navy as a surgeon. From early childhood on, she was raised by Esther and her second husband, Sydney
Erickson, in Boston, MA. She met the love of her life, Charles Richard (Dick) Whitham while she was employed by
Bell Telephone. When he returned from World War II, he insisted they marry right away and start a family. They
raised their children in Quincy, Scituate and Milton, MA. Nancy and Dick settled in Seminole, FL after his
retirement. Nancy worked in St. Petersburg at Franklin Templeton Investments until her retirement in 1996.
Nancy really enjoyed her sweets and baked often for herself and guests. She closely followed all New England
sports and Tom Brady even when he went to the Tampa Buccaneers. She took seriously her card playing and
dominoes and was fun to watch as she played. She often visited the manatees at Homosassa Springs and the
animals at Busch Gardens and Lowry Park. Music and dancing were her passions, especially jazz & Big Band
swing. She talked often of dancing at the Savoy in Boston, MA in her youth. She loved walking the beach and
shelling with Dick.
The Whitham family would like to extend their utmost thanks and gratitude to all of the Suncoast Hospice care
givers but especially to Terry Weeks, RN for her skill, compassion and wonderful care which helped make it
possible for Nancy to age in place at her beloved home in Twin Oaks.
Memorial gifts may be made to Suncoast Hospice, Clearwater, FL; Lowry Park, Tampa FL or Homosassa Springs,
Homosassa FL.
A memorial service will be held privately by the family at Nancy's favorite place, Sand Key Park in Clearwater, FL.
