Nancy "Gail"
Weston
Jan 31, 1945 — Feb 22, 2024
Seminole
Nancy "Gail" Weston, 79, joined her family in Heaven on February 22, 2024. She was born on January 31, 1945 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Charles and Pearl Weston.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Kay.
Gail's life was characterized by love for family and service to others, particularly the children and families in her own community. As a career educator for more than 35 years with Pinellas County Schools, she served as a Physical Education teacher at Cross Bayou Elementary and as a Middle School Assistant Principal at Lealman Intermediate. She remained dedicated and actively supported causes related to
education. As a devoted member of ADK (Alpha Delta Kappa), an International Honorary Organization for Women Educators, she served as the Treasurer for the Beta Kappa Chapter of the Sorority for many years. She was also actively involved in SPCREA (South Pinellas County Retired Educators Association), where she served as the Historian and Editor of the monthly Newsletter. Through her involvement with both organizations she contributed numerous personal hours and made monetary donations on their behalf.
Gail was a caring, thoughtful and generous person, who spent many of her retirement years volunteering in schools. She took great joy and pride in transporting, babysitting and supporting the success of children, particularly her "adopted grandchildren." Whether caring for family and friends recently hospitalized or simply reaching out to support them with a kind word and a promise of prayer, Gail could be relied upon to
willingly assist whomever and whenever a need would arise. She was an extremely independent and creative individual who loved making jewelry and often did so to altruistically support teacher scholarships through ADK. She loved to travel and the PE teacher in her loved the outdoors and remaining active. Whether hiking the mountains of NC, fishing and boating, taking a scenic bike ride or cutting her own grass on her riding lawn mower, she enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air.
Gail will be honored with a Celebration of Life Service held at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 4, at Lewis W. Mohn Funeral Home, 9700 Seminole Blvd., Seminole, FL 33772.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feeding Tampa Bay 4702 Transport Drive, Bldg #6, Tampa, Fl 33605 and/or Metropolitan Ministries, Tampa, in her honor.
