Obituary

Michele Patricia Herbert Rice "Miki"
November 30, 1941- April 16, 2023 On April 16, 2023, Miki passed away peacefully in her sleep. Those who knew her knew that she was the meaning of resilience and perseverance for life and living her way until the end. Though Miki's health was failing the last 2 years few people knew the extent she struggled. Her indomitable spirit pushed her through her pain and limitations. She was a great role model for how to live life with joy. She never complained!
She was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Barry Rice. She leaves behind 4 children, Kathleen Hill, Larry Rice, Rob Rice, Heather
Decker and 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by 1 child, Keith O'Bea.

She loved her family and especially her grandkids. She always loved to play games with the kids and had many fun summers with them.
Miki grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. As a child she was a swimmer for the city of Fort Lauderdale. She graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High
School and went on to attend Florida State University where she graduated with her degree in Mathematics Education. She went on to teach math to 6-12 grades for 30 years in Broward County Schools. She finished her career at Bair Middle School where she fulfilled many roles in the school.
After retiring she moved to the mountains of Blairsville, Georgia with her late husband Barry Rice, where she enjoyed the easy mountain life ever
since.
Some of her favorite hobbies and activities were camping, bowling, and volunteering for Friends of the Library in Blairsville, Georgia. She enjoyed traveling, puzzles, games, sports, collecting penguins and her pets. She was an FSU enthusiast. She also could fix anything!

Memorial services will be held this summer. She wished to have her ashes scattered in the Georgia Mountains with her loving husband's ashes. In
lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter or World WildlifeFederation.
