Marion Jo
Bryan
Mar 13, 1938 — Aug 15, 2023
Seminole
Marion Jo Weeks Bryan, 85 years old, passed from this life on 15 August 2023, at her home in Seminole,
Florida, surrounded by her family. She was born in Paxton, Walton County, Florida, and was the only
child of Robert Lee Weeks and Gladys Maureen Ward Weeks, who preceded her in death.
Jo, as she was known by all her family and friends, is survived by her husband, Bobby, sons Michael
(Tracie), Jonathan "Rusty" (Sylvia) and daughter Jennifer. She is also survived by two granddaughters,
Stephanie and Amanda, and 10 greatgrandchildren.
Jo was able to be a stay-at-home mom for her three children and supported them in all their activities.
Many of her large circle of friends came from her participation in the sports and musical activities of her
children, as well as her participation in the churches the family attended.
Early in their marriage, Jo and Bobby lived in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where Bobby earned a degree in
Electrical Engineering at the University of Alabama, after which they lived briefly in New Jersey. Tiring of
the cold weather, they moved to Seminole, Florida where they have lived for 58 years—55 of those in
the same house. Following Bobby's retirement, they enjoyed trips to many places in the United States,
Canada and overseas, with a trip to Israel among Jo's favorites.
She was kind, funny, and devoted to her family, her many friends and her faith. She loved the color red,
the Florida State Seminoles, Blue Bell ice cream, and watching The Young and the Restless.
Jo treasured annual cousin reunions with the Weeks and Ward branches of her family tree. She also
enjoyed playing tennis for as long as her health permitted, was an avid bridge player, and liked to work
outside in the yard tending to her flowers and plants.
Jo was a longtime member of Oakhurst United Methodist Church, Seminole, where she sang in the
choir, played handbells, and served on various committees. She also conducted a children's choir for
many years and was previously an active member of Seminole First Baptist and St. Luke's United.
Methodist. She was a member of Gideons Auxiliary for over 30 years. As a long-time Christian, Jo
commented to doctors and family that she was prepared to leave this life for a better one in heaven,
and that she had a good life and was ready to go. The family rejoices in the promise of Jesus that "I go to
prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, you may be
also." John 14:3
The family would like to especially thank our friends and family for the prayers, visits, cards, and other
support during the past months. We also greatly appreciate the compassionate, professional care
provided by the Renviva Dialysis Clinic and Suncoast Hospice.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 26 August at Oakhurst United Methodist Church, 13400
Park Boulevard, at 11:00 a.m. The service will be live-streamed at
https://www.youtube.com/@oakhurstumc932/streams and will be available there for later viewing.
There will be a reception following the service in The Foundry.
Flowers are being accepted or you may make a donation to The Gideons International.
