Marie C. Violette Mentor was granted access to the gates of heaven on May 29, 2018 at 2:43pm. After 90 years of living on earth, God has called one of his most precious angels home. Violette was born July 5, 1927 to Leonie Dubuche and Philemon Posy in Jacmel, Haiti. She was raised by her adoptive mother, Lucienne Bastien.
While in Haiti, Violette studied education in college and went on to be a remarkable Academic and French Teacher for Elementary-High school students. Violette married Gracien Mentor and had four children: Max, Marie Lysell, Darlene, and Pierre. She came to the United States in 1992 to be with her children. In 1995, she moved to Seminole, Florida. She had such an authentic, caring, nurturing and sweet spirit. She had one of the biggest hearts you could ever come across. She had a passion for gardening, sewing, singing and dancing.
Although 90 years may seem like a long time, to her loved ones, it still feels like she was gone way too soon. Above all of her passions, Violette's biggest passion of them all was her love for Jesus Christ our Savior. Her family and friends find comfort in the fact that she has made it home to be with God, that she loved so dearly.
In addition to her children, Violette is survived by four Grandchildren: Elizabeth, Smith Jr., Viola, and Didier; four Great Grandchildren: Lyric, Elijah, Noah, and Pierre; a sister, Marie Laure Tulloch, a brother in law, Christian Mentor; and many nieces and nephews. Violette also leaves behind many extended family members, Mentor, Toussaint, Marcelin, Tulloch, Lafontant, Garraud, Roc, Louis, Bastien and Posy along with many others friends.

The viewing will be Friday, June 8, 2018 from 9 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Mohn Funeral Home 9700 Seminole Boulevard Seminole, Fl 33772 .
The Funeral Service will be held immediately after the viewing at 11 a.m. located at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7851 - 54th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33709. After the service, she will be buried at Calvary Catholic Cemetery 5233 118th Ave. North, Clearwater, Florida, 33760.
Following the burial, families and friends will gather at the small hall of Holy Cross Catholic Church for the celebration of Violette's life.
