Obituary

Lucille Licata (nee Lucchino), born December 22, 1925, died on March 22, 2016, in Palm Harbor, Florida. She was born in Buffalo, NY, into a family of four sisters who maintained close and loving relationships throughout their lives. The loss of their father early in their childhood and the experience of the Depression forged resilient and strong personalities. Lucille married Sam ('Salvatore') Licata in 1946 and their marriage lasted 52 years until his death in 1998. Their four children, like Lucille and her sisters, remained close to their parents and each other. Lucille earned her Nursing degree from E. J. Meyer Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1967 and worked for many years at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York until retiring in 1983. The friendships developed there lasted her lifetime, as did many others she made after retiring to Florida. She had a bounce and energy that others loved to be around. She is predeceased by her husband and partner Sam, her much loved son Sam J and daughter Rose Adel ('Ro') and her sister Mildred Sisti. She is survived by her sisters Marie Shaffer and Gerri Jewell, daughters Luta Licata and Karmel Murphy, grand-daughters Tanya Licata, Rachel and Ruth Murphy, great-grand-daughter Cora Rose Murphy-Jensen, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. She was a most beloved wife, wonderful mother and treasured friend, we will miss her always.
