Kathryn Metcalf Wadlin
1943–2026
Kathryn Metcalf Wadlin, 82, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, in 1943 to George Taft and Thelma Catherine Metcalf, Kathryn was the only daughter among her siblings—a role she embraced with a spirited personality and a touch of sass that earned her the reputation of being a true tomboy. She carried that strength, humor, and determination throughout her life.
Kathryn attended Manatee High School, where she was a proud member of the Drill Team, before continuing her education at Manatee Junior College to pursue a career in nursing. She dedicated her entire professional life to caring for others as a nurse on the Progressive Care Unit at Blake Hospital. Her compassion, steady presence, and unwavering commitment to her patients made a lasting impact on countless lives.
Above all, Kathryn was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She will be remembered for her resilience, kindness, quick wit, and the deep love she shared so generously.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce Wadlin; her parents, George Taft and Thelma Catherine Metcalf; and her brother, David Metcalf.
She is survived by her brothers, Taft Metcalf (Lucille) and Larry Metcalf (Shari); her daughters, Sherri Badia (Alan) and Suzanne Robinson; her beloved granddaughters, Victoria Badia and Savannah Robinson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
A celebration of Kathryn's life will be held at a later date so that family and friends from near and far may gather to honor her memory together.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Kathryn's honor.
Kathryn's legacy of compassion, strength, and unconditional love will continue to live on through the family she cherished, the friends she held dear, and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable life.
