Karl Max
Salathé
Mar 16, 1937 — Nov 11, 2025
Largo
Karl Max Salathé III passed away while surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 in Seminole, Florida. He was 88 years old.
Son of Karl Max II and Alzaida Elizabeth (ne. Mager), Karl was born on March 16, 1937 in Central Falls Massachusetts and was the oldest of three brothers.
He was deeply loved by his wife of 66 years Marlene, his daughters Kimberly, Jennifer, and Karla, and his sons Karl Max IV (d. 2019) and David including their spouses, Paul, Todd, David, Kate, Christine, and Morgan. In addition to those already mentioned, he leaves behind more family members who also adored him including his brothers Eric and Philip (d. 2022), sisters-in-laws Linda and Diane (d. 2025), his granddaughters McKenzie, Emily, Hannah, and Sonja, his grandsons Sam, Cody, Karl Max V, Lagan, Churchill, Keaton, Kalvin, and Vivian, his great-grandchildren Sawyer, Ben, Bridget, Harrison, Wyatt, Waylon, Ivan, Luca, Maia, Isabella, and Sylvie, and his nieces and nephews Elizabeth, Elise, Eric, Eileen, Gregory, Greta, Katherine, Geoffrey Max (d. 1970), Phillip, and Peter.
Karl graduated from Attleboro High School in 1955 and Boston University in 1957. He enjoyed a distinguished career in university fundraising and public relations that spanned decades in both the US and UK. Karl was a life-long member of the YMCA and the Boy Scouts of America where he earned the distinguished achievement of Eagle Scout. Through his leadership, vision, and gift for building meaningful relationships, he played a pivotal role in advancing the missions of all the institutions he served and loved and his work leaves behind lasting impact.
Throughout his life he found home in several cherished places, each holding its own special meaning including Seekonk, Massachusetts, South Sutton, New Hampshire, Madison, New Jersey, and Largo, Florida. In each community, he built deep connections and lasting friendships.
His final moments were marked by the same tenderness, humor, and strength that defined his nearly nine decades. His steady presence, warm smile, and the way he made everyone feel like the most important person in the room are just some of the qualities that his family will sorely miss. They take comfort in knowing that his life was rich with love, purpose, and family and that his spirit will remain woven into
their lives forever.
Karl's family invites loved ones to keep his memory close by sharing stories, offering prayers, and holding their own loved ones a little tighter.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests donations be made to the South Sutton Historical Society as the work they do makes it possible to maintain the treasure that South Sutton was and always will be: http://www.suttonnhhistoricalsociety.org
