June Frances
Smith
Jul 24, 1930 — Apr 2, 2020
Belleair Bluffs
June F. Smith, of Bellaire Bluffs Florida passed on April 2, 2020 at ge 89.
June lived a diverse, innovative and inspiring life; daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, jazz lover, artist,
painter, novelist, poet, friend, world traveler, cancer survivor, adventurer, party hostess, formal garden
enthusiast, singer, dancer and dreamer.
She began her life as a fearless city girl in Boston. Often taking the trains alone as a young girl to explore all the city had to offer. No corner left unchartered. When time came to start her family she was transported to the country where their newly-built home in Tewksbury
Massachusetts waited for her. It was her dream come true and began a lifetime of cherished memories with her family.
June was a hopeful romantic. Her language always practical but her heart eternally starry-eyed. Her intent was idealistic yet her approach unconventional. She was so progressive people would often misinterpret her opinions and objectives. The few that saw her truth were
fortunate indeed.
She was a feminist before it was accepted yet dutifully tried to conform to a man's world. That never quite fit which proved to be a lifelong divergence. June freely offered advice, solicited or not, but generally prudent. Her intentions more genuine and generous than she was credited with. She made the world a better place. She had an abundant zest for life. She lived for the moment yet spoke to the future. She
subscribed to the philosophy of arriving at death with a body worn out, and succeeded.
One of her unique talents was that she could speak for 45 minutes without breathing. A simple discussion routinely evolved to cover a dozen topics. While some found it frustrating, many more will miss those conversations.
June was predeceased by her husband of 51 years Charlie, yet is survived by her six children, Sheryl Smith Bailey (Kendall), Calf.; Sandy Kierce TN; Harold Smith (Karen), MA; Sheila Fussell, LA; Shawne Smith, FL; David Smith (Kate), NY. She is also survived by a sister, Marion Rowlings and brother Arthur Rowlings, both of Canada; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She will be missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future time when travel restrictions are eased.
