Special note from Family:

As per your request, I am setting out a few of my memories of my sister, June, to be incorporated into the funeral service. Unfortunately, neither my brother David nor myself will be able to attend due to poor health, but we want our memories of our sister to be focused.  There were five years between us all, June being the eldest, then me, and then David.  June was ten when David was born, and as we were born on a farm there was always plenty of chores to do, both in the house and outside in the fields.  June's favorite was the housework and looking after David, while Mother did the baking and the cooking.  I was the tomboy and was in the barn or fields with the men.  Father passed away at age 47 when David was ten, I was fifteen and June was twenty, so there were some tough years trying to manage without our Father, but we all persevered, stayed close and carried on.

Even at an early age June was strong willed and had a goal in life, and at 20 she moved to Florida where she settled for the rest of her life. During the intervening years, June worked for the telephone company, got a degree in music and got married, had Bryan and worked in the family business.  During those years we were in regular contact, but I was raising a family here so only saw each other probably once a year.  June was a willing caregiver to various members of the family in their last days, and Mother lived with June and her husband Ralph for many years and Jun was her caregiver until her demise in 2000 and that was the last time we saw each other because I lost my husband the following year, but we were in touch by phone and email two or three times a week and were very supportive of each other.

Our love and condolences go out to Bryan Jr., Bryan III. and to June's best friend for over 30 years, Diana. June's passing leaves footprints on our hearts but I know that there will be a big celebration upstairs when she meets all the loved ones.  Just a little note of hilarity, every time my grandchildren, Charlie and Kyle, went to visit Aunt June in Florida she would bake them peanut butter cookies.  When they got home they wanted me to get the recipe from Aunt June and bake them some.  Well, when I asked her she said to just go to the freezer section in the grocery store- I never did reveal her secret and to this day Aunt June made the best peanut butter cookies.  The father of those grandchildren, Justin, will be attending the service on Tuesday to bring the love from the rest of the family.  Love to you both.

This photo was hanging on my bedroom wall, where I have a collection of Family photos that cover one whole wall. At the back of the photo, after I had taken it from the frame where it had been, in June's handwriting, it states "I finally graduated with honors from the University of Tampa".  I remember her telling me that she finally finished the education in Vocal Music that she had begun in Canada at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, the same University from which I had graduated in the 1950's.  June had always been involved in Music from her formative years, and I took lessons from the same music teacher who had taught her, Anne Dumbleton.  June had also performed in Ms. Dumbleton's female chorus, "The Queen Anne Singers".  At the Conservatory, June sang Opera and Oratorio Music, the same as I did, but I also took piano and organ.

June competed in many music festivals, specifically "The Kiwanis Music Festival" and "The Davenport Festival of Sacred Praise". We were a Musical Family, as Mother was a trained singer from England, her Mother (our maternal grandmother) having been an Operatic Soloist in Ireland, as well as other European countries.  We would gather around the piano at home and sing together in  parts for our entertainment, since TV wasn't allowed in our home until I finished High School's Grade 13.
