Obituary

John (Jack) Schorr, 97, of Seminole, FL, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025,
surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia by his
parents, Al and Helen Schorr (née Haines), Jack moved to the Seminole area in 2005 from
Broomall, PA.

A proud veteran, Jack served as a Sergeant in the Signal Troop of the 1st Cavalry Division, 8th
Army, in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. After the war, he graduated from LaSalle
College and went on to become a top salesman for several major companies.

Jack was a devout Roman Catholic and a dedicated member of Blessed Sacrament Church.
Throughout his life, he was actively involved in his community, holding leadership positions in
various organizations such as Toastmasters, Elks, Moose, VFW, and the American Legion. As a
young man, Jack was a proud Cub and Boy Scout, and he carried those values throughout his
life.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Jack was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He
fondly recalled attending numerous games dating back to the 1930s and was particularly proud to
be one of the few who witnessed the Eagles win five championships.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat (née Smythe). He is survived by his son Joe
and daughter-in-law Tara (née Havens) of Largo, FL; his cherished grandchildren, Devon
Archbold (husband Grady) of Laguna Beach, CA, Madison Polmear (husband Will) of Safety
Harbor, FL, and Conor Schorr of Largo, FL. He is also survived by his dear sister, Janice Simms
(husband Richard) of Whitesville, NC, and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Nothing brought Jack more joy than watching his grandchildren grow and start families of their
own. He was always known for taking over as the bartender at family gatherings, a role he
embraced for decades. His hospitality and love for hosting family and friends at his and Pat's
shore homes were legendary. Whether it was a Whiskey Sour, Gin and Bitter Lemon, a cold beer,
or coffee and a hot breakfast, Jack made sure no one went without.
