John M. Elias, 76, died Sunday, May 31, 2020. He was born in Bellevue, Ohio and came to this area in 1974 from Pittsburgh. PA. John was attorney and served in the US Army. He was a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice Organized Crime and Racketeering Division. He was also a Catholic, belonging to Blessed sacrament Church. John graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from Marquette University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law. John was a Seminole city attorney for 34 years; city attorney for the Town of Belleair Shores; Special Master for the city of St. Petersburg Beach; Certified mediator in the Circuit Court of Pinellas County and the federal district court for the Middle District of Florida; Florida Board Certified trial attorney for the past 30 years; Past president of the Seminole Rotary Club; member of the Seminole Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, as well as a Past President; Member of the Florida Bar Assoc; American Bar Assoc; Kentucky Bar Assoc; Florida Justice Assoc; Ye Mystic Krewe of Neptune; Active in the Seminole Youth Athletic Assoc; Seminole Chamber of Commerce Merit Award; and Seminole Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year- Mr. Seminole 2005.

John was preceded in death by father and mother, Cyril Charles and Ruth Elizabeth Callahan Elias; and his sister Mary Lisbeth Elias.

John is survived by his wife Judy; son, Michael Elias (VA); daughter, Beth Elias Suan (Alan); and grandchildren, Brady (13) and Emily (11).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research; or Rock Steady Boxing, Largo.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 5, at 10:30 AM at Blessed sacrament Church, followed by an interment graveside service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
