Joan Whitney, age 83, passed away August 3, 2016. She was born in Detroit, MI on November 10, 1932 and moved to the Johns Pass area in 1947 where she attended St. Petersburg High School. She married Lorenzo H. Whitney 3/13/1954. They were proud parents of the first girl born in 1955 at St. Anthony's Hospital, Cindy L. Whitney. She was a stay at home mother until Cindy was 16. She started working as a pharmacy technician in 1971 at Seminole Drugs.

She was a Christian, enjoyed playing slot machines, bowling, baseball, dancing, travel, and golf. She was an avid reader and especially liked who-dun-it novels. She loved kids and enjoyed mentoring them. She will be dearly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by mother Hazel and father Joseph Notebaert and leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Lorenzo (Ren) Whitney; daughter, Cindy Mink (David); three grandchildren, Michelle Collette (Tony), Angela Perkins (Stan), Kristen Van Asten (Joe); and six great grandchildren, Cassidy, Carter, Kaden, Adalynn, Joey, and Graham.
