Obituary

Nancy was born to John and Jessie Henderson in Kilmarnock, Scotland on Nov. 9, 1930. She grew up with memories of WWII as a child with her younger brother Jackie and sister Moira. Her son Ronnie, whom she was so proud of and loved came into her life in 1949. She worked for several years before coming to America in 1958. She met and married her husband Roger in 1962. They were married in the base chapel at Chanute AFB, in Illinois. For the next 16 years, she was an Air Force wife and lived maney places across the country and for 3 years in the Philippines. While in the Philippines she enjoyed many trips to Bangkok and Hong Kong, studying and searching for Chinese pottery and porcelain. She was an outstanding seamstress and an artist. If she saw something she liked in a shop, she would come home and make herself on without the benefit of pattern. She studied and painted beautiful pictures; many of which adorn our home. Her strong independent spirit and determination helped her meet challenges which could easily have discouraged a lesser person. She was completely supportive. She taught herself to type well enough that she was able to type term papers for Roger when he was in graduate school at Syracuse. After Roger retired from the Air Force in 1978, she worked hand in hand managing and operating a marina on Lake Champlain before retiring from that and became a snowbird traveling between her home in Kirkville, N.Y. which she dearly loved and Largo, Florida for the next 25 years. The inseparable couple moved to Florida permanently in 2016.
