Obituary

On Thursday September 5, 2024, Jean Margaret Wojtasik, loving mother, auntie, grandmother, great and great- great grandmother, passed away at the age of 101.  Jean was born on July 26, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois to Henry and Margaret (Swornik) Pudelek. Jean and her husband Ben owned and operated a grocery store when they first got married. With a growing family they sold their business, and Jean held several other managerial career positions. Her last position was a supervisor for the Cook County Treasurer Department in Chicago where she handled and processed all the major tax bills for large corporations and businesses. She retired after 20 years at the age of 65.  Mom had a strong fervent love for her whole family. If in need, she was always there to assist. That included her extended family and close friends. They always came first. In mom's younger years she liked listening to music from the 40's and ballroom dancing. Mom enjoyed a few sports as well. She like watching her Tampa Bay Rays baseball team, and enjoyed a few trips to the casino with her sister Genevieve or her best friend Mary. She always said she never lost. Mom also had a love to travel where she visited various countries throughout Europe, took many cruises to the Caribbean, or sightseeing to many of the states within the US.  Mom loved going to church. She loved Christian worship songs and gospel music.  She also enjoyed listening to the sermons of her pastors. She loved her Savior Jesus, and had the opportunity to visit the Holy Land in 2017. It was a life changing experience for her. Mom had a heart for the poor or those less fortunate, as she assisted giving bibles, and treats to the local homeless shelter and supported the orphans in Haiti through her missionary friends.  Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Frank Pudelek, Genevieve Vyduna, her husband Bernard, daughter Denise, and sons Bernard Wojtasik and Gary Wojtasik. She is survived by her daughters Nora Obrecht of Kansas City Mo, and daughter Bonnie Wojtasik of Seminole, Fl., daughter-in-law Kathy Wojtasik of Palm Harbor, granddaughter Margaret Myers (Joseph) of Sunrise, Florida, grandson Michael Obrecht (Emily) of Lombard, Illinois, John Paul Wojtasik (Cristi) of Altamonte Springs, Florida. great grandchildren Samantha, Jake, Sean, Luke, Andrew, Abby Rose, great-great grandson Zane, nephews Hank Pudelek of Bourbonnais, Il., John Wojtasik of Aurora, Il., nieces Karen Naso of Naperville, Il, Noelle Wolski of Hickory Hills, Il. and many great nieces, nephews and beloved friends.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 14, 2024, at Mohn Funeral Home in Seminole, Florida by Senior Pastor Drew Griffin of Generation Church, Largo, Florida.
