Obituary

Jack Goss, Age 92
Born April 4, 1926
Died February 23, 2019
Born in Buffalo, NY

Jack served in the U.S. Navy during the final months of World War II. After completing a selective
electronics training program at Great Lakes Naval Training Station near Chicago, Jack was assigned to
the radar station on the island of Guam. After leaving the Navy, Jack met his wife, Barbara J. Bush, at a
roller-skating rink in 1946 and married her two years later. Jack earned a Bachelor of Science and a
Master of Education from Alfred University in Alfred, New York. Originally planning to teach math, Jack
was soon hired by General Electric and started on a career that spanned several continents and
companies. Jack work with GE in Tennessee and Texas before accepting an assignment in Rome, Italy,
and then further assignments in Wiesbaden, Germany; Nancy, France; and Madrid, Spain. Jack was then
offered the opportunity to head the GE Electronic Division for the far east market, and the family
relocated to Tokyo, Japan for almost 6 years. Along the way they had four children, each born in a
different country: U.S.A, France, Spain, and Japan.
After returning to the U.S. for a short stint in Oklahoma City, the family moved to Clearwater, Florida in
1965. Jack worked for Milton Roy Corporation, a designer and manufacturer of kidney dialysis machines
and other medical equipment, as the head of the Research and Development team. As Milton Roy began
to transition through several mergers, acquisitions and name changes, Jack worked for Mil-Roy
Extracorporeal Medical Specialties, Inc.; and Extracorporeal Medical Specialties, Inc.; before retiring
from a division of Johnson & Johnson Corp. in 1985. He then embarked on a long-standing interest in
entrepreneurship that had started with his first venture in his college days: a mobile catering business to
hungry factory workers. Already the co-owner with wife Barbara of John's Pass Marina, Jack started
several other businesses and partnerships, including Digital Precision Flowmeters, that built on his
engineering and management skills.
Jack was an engineer and inventor his entire life and held several patents from his work with flowmeter
technology. Jack was a former member and Treasurer of the Tampa Bay Inventor's Council and a former
member of the Lion's Club of Clearwater.
In the eyes of his family, Jack could fix anything and do everything. He had a quick wit, a great sense of
fun, and was the life of any party. He loved to sail, travel, play golf, and enjoy life to the fullest.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Danielson, of Largo, FL, and his father, Herbert
