Elsie Nora
Fitzpatrick
Feb 20, 1925 — Oct 6, 2021
Seminole
Elsie "Pat" Fitzpatrick (Abbott), 96, of Seminole, Florida died on October 6, 2021. She was born and raised in Manchester, England and moved to Ipswich, England in her teen years. Pat moved to Philadelphia PA in 1946 after marrying American G.I. Tom Fitzpatrick, who predeceased her. During their 52 year marriage, they lived in Mt. Laurel NJ and Bardmoor (Seminole) FL.
Pat had an abundance of positivity and energy which was infectious. She had a lifelong passion for reading and her home was full of the books she treasured. Pat had an inquisitive mind and valued education. She was especially proud of the Associate Degree she earned from Burlington County College, going back to school as an adult. Pat also loved to travel with Tom, particularly to their beloved England to see family. And she was particularly joyful when she was able to host family from England at their NJ and FL homes and share highlights of her adopted country. Pat (and Tom) loved to surround themselves with young people, and the feeling was mutual. They influenced multiple generations of family and friends.
For the past 19 years, Pat resided at Lake Seminole Square, where she welcomed new residents, bowled, and participated in a constant calendar of social activities.
Pat was predeceased by sister Margaret Abbott Barrett (Ontario Canada), sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty and John Davis (Seminole FL). She is survived by sister Jean Wood (Manchester England) and brother Harold Abbott (Ontario Canada). She is also survived by nieces and nephews and their families including Sarah Claxton (Ipswich England), David Betts (Ipswich England), Stephen Wood (Manchester England), Susan Strang (Cheshire England), Carol Beckett (Manchester England), Merritt Andrews (Orlando FL), and Joseph Andrews (Orlando FL). She will also be remembered by extended family and friends in Canada, England, and the U.S.
