Obituary

Daniel E. Brown, born in Washington, D.C. Dan was raised in Maryland and Virginia with southern religious roots. He was sent to a Roman Catholic military academy as a rebellious youngster where he was heavily immersed in Catholicism. Once as they say, "he straightened out" he moved to Florida with his family and spent high school years in public school. He graduated from Seminole High School in 1975 and later went on to ear Bachelor of Arts in Accounting at USF and followed by his Certified Public Accounting License in 1982. College interests included Phi Beta Lambda 1977 Florida State Leadership Conference with first place in Business Administration. As a Florida Delegate he also attended the National Conference in Denver.

A Life Member in Sertoma Foundation, he spent two (2) terms as President of the Clearwater Downtown Sertoma. This community service club admitted women in violation of International Rules and thus was instrumental in establishing women as full voting members of Sertoma. Dan also was a member of the US Alumni Association, HRA, NFIB, RNC, Heritage Foundation.

His interests included scuba diving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays, and other sporting teams (Lightning and Rowdies).

Dan was one of the busiest volunteers at Chapel on the Hill, doing his duty as Head Usher and working behind the scenes as the Treasurer for over six (6) years using his skills to serve.

I quote a fellow CPA calling him "quietly competent and effective, a sign of someone who knows who they are, and having no need to be the center of attention or needing constant praise. Dan was a methodical and dedicated professional operating with moral and ethical integrity"

Dan was kind, funny and devoted to his family, his many friends and his faith and heritage.

The family thanks his friends and family for their support and love.

Dan is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter Melissa and husband Kristoffer; grandchildren Elizabeth, Ethan and Emily; brothers Roger Brown Sr. and wife Liz, and David Bottenfield and family. There are many other extended family members remembering him fondly and he very much enjoyed attending a family reunion in Virginia. Dan was proud of his ancestry.
