Obituary

Cellen Jeffrey Phillips, age 32, passed away Friday January 16, 2026.  He was born in Lafayette, Indiana and moved to Indian Rocks Beach, Florida in January 2001 from Boswell, Indiana.  It is with torn souls and the heaviest of hearts we share the tranquil passing of our family's pillar of literal strength and power, Cellen Jeffrey Phillips, Due to a major cardiac event in his sleep. Born a few days early on the Fourth of July 1993, he would proudly say, am I patriotic, yes, so much so I share our nation's birthday. A lover of his family, parents Jeff and Nikki Phillips, brother Cole Phillips, sister-in-law, Sara Ray Phillips and sweetly adored niece Avery. His extended family were always close, Aunt Heather King and cousins Zane and Devin, Aunt Amanda and Uncle John Lauser and cousins Grace and Nate. Grandmothers Marylin Pratt, Gail Fuqua, and Great Grandma Lois Rolan will miss him dearly.  He is preceded in death by Grandpas, Ron Phillips and Greg Rolan.

Cellen believed that the body was a temple and the soul its guide. He was a practitioner of meditation, and manifesting your future, finding clarity in stillness and strength in intentional movement. His commitment to physical health went beyond the aesthetic; he viewed nutrition and fitness as a means of honoring the life he was given, inspiring many to treat their own bodies with greater reverence. Emotionally, Cellen was a pillar of encouragement and radical honesty. He possessed the rare gift of truly listening, creating a protective safe harbor for friends and family to express their vulnerabilities. He believed in the power of the continuous process of healing, self-reflection, and emotional intelligence.

To know Cellen was to feel seen, heard, and protected.  Throughout his life he found fellowship in youth and high school baseball, basketball, wrestling and football.  Into adulthood he enjoyed bowling, softball and disk golf, enjoying many afternoons tossing disks with random players he might befriend. Cellen was a powerhouse lineman for the very successful Largo Packers football team of 2009-2012 and went on to play briefly for the Florida Institute of Technology.

Cellen's more domestic talents were cooking, experimenting with food and flavors and sharing the joy of food with others. He could sew and volunteered with Saftey Bears For Kids, machine stitching hand made teddy bears annually. Always a renaissance man, he learned the skills of knife forging and sharpening. A talent he shared with many keeping sharp things sharp.

In lieu of flowers Cellen would encourage donations to www.Clothestokids.org an organization he has been contributing to since high school after learning of their constant need for big men's clothing. He saw a welcome recipient of his quite oversized wardrobe and size 13 shoes.

Cellen will be deeply missed by family and friends, teammates and past coworkers. All were better for knowing him and the world has lost a gem with his departure.
